In 2008, Matt Kennedy was working as the program director at WJBO Radio in Baton Rouge — the same station hosting Christy Smith’s weekly radio show. As he listened to the show every week, Matt gained a more thorough understanding of how Christy helped people and became inspired to do the same. He joined Christy’s firm in 2009 on a part-time basis, but that quickly grew to full time, and he retired from radio in 2013.
Matt focuses on helping people understand ways they could turn their years of hard work and saving into a reliable stream of retirement income. He enjoys working with people as they move from the working years to the “work optional” years, as well as showing them how to navigate the ins and outs of Social Security and Medicare. Matt believes a true retirement plan manages risk, planning for both good and bad markets.
Matt holds his life, accident and health license and has passed the Series 65 securities exam. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Louisiana State University and Matt is a co-host with Christy Smith on Your Money Matters on local media outlets.
Matt and his wife Alisa live in Prairieville, Louisiana. The couple has two adult children, Ryan and Lauren, as well as two dogs and a cat. Matt’s hobbies include golfing, playing the piano and learning about new people and places.
