Christy Smith, CLTC®, CEP Financial Advisor

When asked what inspired her to pursue a career helping people plan for the future, Christy Smith says it’s not a what but a who: her father. He retired from Exxon in 1998 after working for the company for 30 years, and in post-retirement, he lost 50% of his portfolio following bad financial advice. Watching her father’s experience made Christy determined to help others prevent the same from happening to them. Since then, she has helped hundreds of retirees and transitioning boomers prepare for financial independence.

Christy founded Presley Wealth Management in 2015, dedicated to helping clients create holistic plans incorporating income, investment, medical, tax and legacy planning. The firm sets itself apart by focusing on education-based financial planning and building personal relationships. As a Christian, Christy’s faith-based values are demonstrated in every interaction her team has with clients.

Christy holds her life, health and annuity license and has passed the Series 65 securities exam. She is a Certified Estate Planner (CEP) and has earned the Certification for Long-Term Care (CLTC®). Christy is a frequent guest on local media outlets, where she shares her experience and knowledge about planning for retirement.

Christy and her husband, Richard, have been married for more than two decades. The couple has three children, Alexis, Coleman, and Presley, as well as two grandchildren. In her spare time, Christy loves spending time with her family and working in her yard. She also regularly attends events to watch Presley compete in professional barrel-racing events.

Matt Kennedy, CEP Financial Advisor

In 2008, Matt Kennedy was working as the program director at WJBO Radio in Baton Rouge — the same station hosting Christy Smith’s weekly radio show. As he listened to the show every week, Matt gained a more thorough understanding of how Christy helped people and became inspired to do the same. He joined Christy’s firm in 2009 on a part-time basis, but that quickly grew to full time, and he retired from radio in 2013.

Matt specializes in helping people understand how to turn their years of hard work and saving into a reliable stream of retirement income. He enjoys working with people as they move from the working years to the “work optional” years, as well as showing them how to navigate the ins and outs of Social Security and Medicare. Matt believes a true retirement plan manages risk, planning for both good and bad markets.

Matt holds his life, accident and health license and has passed the Series 65 securities exam. He graduated from Louisiana State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism. Matt has been a featured guest on media outlets across Louisiana, including News Radio 1150 WJBO Radio, Talk 107.3 FM, WAFB-TV and WWL Radio.

Matt and his wife Alisa live in Prairieville, Louisiana. The couple has two adult children, Ryan and Lauren, as well as two dogs and a cat. Matt’s hobbies include golfing, playing the piano and learning about new people and places.
